Originally opened in the 1940’s, the Edgewater Hotel, located on the stunning Lake Mendota in Madison, WI, underwent a two-year $100 million renovation starting in 2012. After the renovations, sleeping rooms nearly doubled from 107 to 202 including 10 studios with kitchenettes, and two presidential suites, which incorporate the original art deco design aspects. Preserving the history and architecture of the hotel was a priority, but modern twists were integrated into the now 45,00 square feet of meeting and event space. New additions to the Edgewater include 30,000 square feet of outdoor meeting and event space, a luxury spa, a nine-story tower offering panoramic views of Madison, and an ice rink located in the center of the Grand Plaza. Famous guests of the Edgewater Hotel include Elvis Presley, Sammy Davis Jr., Bob Marley, Elton John, and the Dali Lama; all of whom can be found on the 90-foot interactive media wall complete with video monitors, still photographs and historical artifacts.
